Standardized Process to Register Primary School Students

Rate this post

The Ministry of Education made a major announcement today about primary school registration. The main purpose of these decisions is to stop the lining up by parents in the early hours of the morning to get forms to register your children at particular schools. The announced decisions also states that the schools cannot test prospective students to determine if they can attend the specific school.

Main points:

1. There will be a standardized form available to be used at all primary schools and Ministry of Education District Offices during normal working hours. The form will also be available online at the Ministry of Education website. The form will be available February February to March.

2. Submit completed form to the primary school – April 5

3. School post list of accepted students by 15 May.

4. Principals must notify unsuccessful parents with reasons.

5. There must be no interview process or examination for admittance.

Questions

Based on the full memo below I have some questions which hopefully will be clarified in the next few weeks.

1. The memo does not specifically say public schools. Do these guidelines also apply to private primary schools?

2. If there are unlimited forms that can be submitted to a school will a popular school have the human capacity to go through all of the forms?

3. Will the school have the resources to contact unsuccessful parents?

4. Why didn’t they allow parents to submit a form online so schools would have the submitted forms in an electronic format.

5. Can parents submit forms to multiple schools?
