- a. The word “Essential” means that it is important and necessary for life to occur.
b. The phrase “most abundant and widely distributed” shows that water is found in many places on earth. - a. Water is used in agriculture and in manufacturing.
b. Dominica gets its water from surface water such as lakes. Barbados gets its water from underground. - a.To make sea water drinkable the salt must be removed from it. This is done using desalination plants.
b. Two things can cause a water shortage, low rainfall and poor water distribution. - Two reasons for the high cost of water are the number of employees needed to maintain and distribute the water supply as well as the distance to supply water to different parts of the community.
- An appropriate title is “Caribbean Drinking Water”.
