A circle of radius 21cm is shown below

(a) Calculate the circumference of the circle. (2 marks)

(b) The circle is cut into 8 equal parts as shown below

The parts are used to form the shape below.

Calculate the perimeter of the shape. (3 marks)

 


Answer

(a) 132 cm

(b) 174 cm


Explanation

(a) Perimeter of circle=22 ⁄7 ×2×21 = 132 cm

(b) Perimeter of shape = Perimeter of circle + radius + radius = 132 + 21 + 21 = 174 cm
